Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, James Whitiker knows firsthand the challenges that young people face every day. After getting into trouble at a young age and spending years in and out of state and federal prison, James made a life-changing decision to turn his story around — choosing purpose over pain and transformation over trouble.
Today, James serves as a Youth Engagement Specialist with The Father in Me, using his real-life experiences and lessons to inspire and guide youth toward positive choices. He meets young people where they are — in schools, on the streets, or in their neighborhoods — helping them build self-awareness, leadership, and life skills that empower them to succeed.
James is committed to breaking cycles of violence, hopelessness, and incarceration by showing the next generation that change is possible and that their future still holds power and promise. His journey is living proof that no matter where you start, you can always rise higher.
